Why It Matters
Epoxy and composite layups need to hold a specific cure temperature, evenly, for an extended period. Miss that window and you either extend the cure indefinitely or risk a joint that never fully sets. The traditional fix — building a plywood-and-sheetrock oven around the part and manning it for the duration of the cure — works, but it's slow, expensive, and still struggles to get even heat through multiple layers of carbon fiber or fiberglass.
A curing blanket wraps the part directly instead of building a room around it, distributing heat evenly through every layer and holding it there without anyone watching a thermostat.

Case Study
Gold Coast Yachts builds high-end, carbon-fiber watercraft, and its epoxy joints needed to cure at 145°F for an extended period. The company's process involved building a large custom oven, essentially a shed of two-by-fours and sheetrock, around each frame section, then manning it for the duration of the cure to keep the temperature from drifting too high or too low. Even then, heat struggled to penetrate every layer of carbon fiber, and an incomplete cure meant starting the clock over.
A two-foot-by-two-foot Powerblanket test blanket eliminated the need for the pre-built ovens entirely. A thermostatic controller on each blanket held the exact cure temperature without anyone watching it, and even heat distribution sped up the cure considerably. Gold Coast went on to order additional blankets in multiple sizes, and later custom-sized blankets for current and future projects.
